9 Reasons Why The Witcher 3 Is Better Than Skyrim

7. The DLC Is More Expansive

While Skyrim enjoyed some decent post-release content, it was few and far between. The two main expansions were solid efforts by Bethesda to build upon threads that were overlooked in the main game, but they released so long after the title hit shelves, and didn't add anything that revolutionary from a gameplay perspective, that they didn't feel like essential purchases.

The Witcher on the other hand released a constant stream of free DLC in the weeks following its release to keep players engaged. While not too substantial (extra kill animations, quests, weapons and armour), it was a nice gesture from the developers and enough to keep players talking about the title until the true expansions dropped.

Likewise, the two major pieces of DLC that were released arguably improved on the quality of the missions and storytelling found in the base game.

Hearts of Stone was a brilliant nine-hour romp inspired by classic fairtyales over the same open worlds seen in the original release, while Blood and Wine was an epic 40-hour adventure set in a brand new sandbox that could have been an entirely new game in its own right.
