9 Reasons You Shouldn't Buy A PS4 Pro
7. Some Games Don't Utilize Upgrades That Well
Let's get one thing out of the way; A properly rendered game on the PS4 Pro looks absolutely gorgeous.
One of the standouts on the list of worthwhile titles is Rise of the Tomb Raider, which utilizes a sub-4k checkerboard resolution effect. That technical jargon means it basically takes a shortcut to get a high resolution. While the drawbacks of this method are almost naked to the visual eye, the results are unarguable: the game looks incredible in motion, it's new visual clarity rivalling PC gaming.
Disappointingly, however, there are quite a few games that aren't exactly stunning. Naughty Dog are usually the kings of visual power on Sony's console, but Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us: Remastered utilize a much more basic effect of simply boosting the resolution beyond 1080p.
These two games look much clearer on a PS4 Pro, and the effect is certainly something to behold, but it lacks a certain punch, and compared to some of the other upgraded games, like the surprisingly pretty Titanfall 2, it can feel uneven and a bit jarring.
