9 Short Sentences That Ruin Major Video Games

8. Bioshock Infinite's Combat And Story Are Polar Opposites

From the moment you step onto it, the floating world of Columbia is a beautiful spectacle, yet it hides some amazingly dark secrets. It's really an ideal place for the lead character, Booker DeWitt, a man with a dark past in desperate search of redemption. Essentially, redemption underlines Bioshock Infinite's narrative, yet that factor is somewhat juxtaposed by the incredible amounts of violence within the game. One of Booker's weapons is a tool called the Sky-Hook; not only does it allow him to cling to sky-rails and traverse Columbia, it also grants him a close-quarters weapon. It's basically three hooks that spin on the end of a handle and it's amazingly gruesome to use; visibly ripping people open and spewing blood everywhere. It's a weapon that's drawn criticism from all angles but most importantly; it feels unnecessarily violent, almost as if it's there to remind us that we're playing a game. Yes Booker's not your typical hero, but he's also a man that's trying to redeem himself. Does he really think that embracing Columbia's darker side is the way to do so? Many have commented that the level of violence within Infinite also excludes non-gamers from embracing the game, potentially deterring people away from the strong storyline that the Bioshock games have become renowned for.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
