9 Simple Ways To Fix Star Wars Battlefront 2
6. Customisable Matchmaking
Weirdly, the only way to customise any match settings is within the offline Arcade mode. Online, you're at the mercy of DICE's auto-match programming, which boils down to literally picking one of five modes (Galactic Assault, Starfighter Assault, Heroes vs. Villains, Blast and Strike) and hoping you get put somewhere you like.
Light side, Dark side, Endor, Kamino - everything feels random and occasionally unwanted. Even the way this is handled from the main menu feels threadbare - literally, you're just able to say "I want to play a game of X", and everything else fills in the blanks.
Fixing this requires more time coding supplementary menus once you've chosen a mode, though we already have them from Arcade in terms of choosing between planets and Force alignments. Even if you're just letting players favourite certain maps and characters from a button on the main menu - letting the search algorithm tailor the results - at least it goes some way into reducing the randomisation inherent to matchmaking as it stands right now.
