Last year's Doom had one of the best first-person shooter campaigns in years, but its brutal demon-stomping gameplay proved to be just as refreshing in the game's similarly excellent multiplayer suite.

Revitalising arena-style action and putting the focus on pure arcade fun that has been pushed to the side in favour of xp grinds and sluggish point-and-click weapons in recent years, the latest Doom dropped all the fluff and instead revelled in simple competitive and enjoyable online matches.
