9 Things No One Wants To Admit About Marvel's Spider-Man

1. Doc Ock's Twist, The Sinister Six Formation & Spidey's Final Suit ALMOST Doesn't Make Sense

For the most part, Otto's William Salyers delivers a performance that really makes you want to save him from himself. You truly feel for this unfortunate scientist dealt a bad hand, and when everything goes sideways, you're as willing to believe there's good in Otto as Peter.

However, because of the need to compound Octavius' motives and actions into a pace that fits the manic third act, we get a somewhat rushed finale.

Finding out he's the mastermind behind the Raft makes sense, because you can see various schematics and plans strewn around Otto's lab, all of which foreshadows his involvement. Where things fall down is in the "secret lair" Spidey finds immediately after. We get neatly placed audio diaries for each Sinister Six member, laying out their backstories and motivations in a way that feels all too convenient, given the care and attention put into fleshing out everyone else. Spidey then dons a brand-new suit that he's... prepared... somehow... despite never mentioning it beforehand?

Given how we spend time building Octavius' arms and even augmenting Spidey's Advanced Suit on a per mod basis, this too feels rushed.

It's further revealed that Otto knew Peter was Spider-Man the whole time, and he somehow conversed with the Six (including the demented Li) for a considerable amount of time. None of it feels especially well handled, given the time between the breakout and finding this hidden lair is only 24 hours, and that we then have to buy that Otto was lying to us from... the beginning?

Re-watching older scenes with this in mind doesn't exactly help, as the Parker/Otto bond is genuine. Not to mention... why did Octavius build Spidey a new suit, if it was only going to be used against him? Assumedly he "turned" after these earlier scenes, which only compounds the timeline more, and makes his relationship with the Sinister Six even less plausible.
