9 Times Video Games Took You For A Fool

8. Notes In Dark Souls

FromSoftware

FromSoftware HAD to know what they were doing when they implemented an option for multiplayer in Dark Souls. The harshest, most unforgiving game series on the planet, the developers thought it would be a good idea for fellow flesh and blood humans to be able to leave hints and tips in difficult areas that players could read and learn from.

There's nothing like a helping hand when you're faced with insurmountable foes with no visible weakness, so in theory, it was a beautiful and wholesome idea.

But of course, the devs knew what would happen, and they let it.

Instead of inspiring notes of motivation and helpful hints, players left absolute troll messages all over the game that solicited the readers to jump off of ledges, run into traps, and generally cause havoc to those that hadn't quite gotten as far as them yet. Because we're spiteful, terrible, creatures, but mostly just because it's really funny. This is why we don't deserve nice things.
