9 Times Video Games Took You For A Fool
4. Jumpscare Mazes
If you grew up in the proximity of a computer, then you'll remember that phase of spooky mazes and detailed videos that were designed to get you up close and personal with your screen.
Often with relaxing music or a healthy dose of silence, the mazes were pretty zen in their construction, designed simply as a test of how steady you can keep your hands. The aim of the game was to keep your cursor from touching the edges as the play field gets narrower and narrower.
Once you got to the tightest point, however, Regan from The Exorcist would pop up on screen in one of the most butthole-clenching jump scares you'll ever experience in your life. Anyone with heart problems was sent promptly to the emergency room, and the internet was deemed an unsafe place for flash games and their casual players for a good long while.
We were all naive fools back then, but we've learned. And gained a whole head of grey hair in the process.
