1. Zelda The Movie

When IGN waded in with an announcement for a Zelda movie, things got very weird, very quickly. A live action rendition of the boy destined to save Hyrule from the forces of evil, the Legend of Zelda movie trailer came out via IGN in 2008 to waves of excited fans ready to invest in this world of magic and monsters - but a trailer is all they ever got.

In perhaps the most highly invested joke of all time, IGN had crafted the movie preview with an actual team of professionals, throwing their weight around with special effects and costumes befitting an actual film premiere.

Whilst they obviously spaffed all their budget on Link's cheekbones and went to the Budget Saver Store for the character wigs, it was still convincing enough to be an exciting prospect. And then that April 1st date hit home, and everyone got very upset.

Truthfully though, a Zelda film would be amazing. It's a surprise no-one has capitalised on the prospect in the decade since this prank considering how riled up it got the world.
