9 Tiny Issues That Ruined The Reputations Of Great Video Games

5. Hitman (2016/7) Releasing Episodically

One bad timed announcement can tank a game's reputation, or the very will from a consumer base to want to play it, anyway. Hitman's troubled development tried telling the world that a segmented episodic release was for the betterment of the entire project - and the developer's sanity - yet it happened amidst a general rallying cry against DLC, microtransactions and the emergence of games as "platforms for content".

People simply couldn't see the forest for the trees, and I'll admit to thinking an episodic Hitman was A Very Bad Idea too... until I played it.

2016's Hitman is nothing short of the best Hitman in the series. It is categorically, fundamentally one of the most impressive game worlds ever made, and a true exemplification of an experience only possible on modern hardware.

Now all this controversy has died out, any fans of the series or stealth in general owe it to themselves to pick this up.
