In a weird move, Square Enix decided to announce in December... that they were going to announce something. All we got was that a future Tomb Raider game was coming, but nothing else in the way of timeline placement, Lara's progression towards reclaiming her iconic pigtail n' twin pistol look, or even a title.

... or did we?

The word "SHADOW" can be spelt by using the first letter of each sentence within the announcement. This lines up with an earlier leak, where someone sitting next to a person who was preparing a presentation on "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" left their laptop within eyeshot. Even more tantalising was Kotaku lending their voice to the crowd, stating that they've "heard" the sequel is being developed by Eidos Montreal, and not Crystal Dynamics, as the latter are busy heading up The Avengers game.

Together, we have one hell of an official nod towards something that was only being taken with a grain of salt, and as the Tomb Raider movie releases March 15th, don't be surprised if that's when Square Enix spill the beans.
