9 Unreleased Video Game Endings Fans DEMAND To See

7. Beyond Good & Evil 2

I know, this is a painful one if you’re a Beyond Good & Evil fan since we’ve been sitting on our hands expecting the sequel since the original came out back in 2003. The sequel was first announced in 2008 and given that it’s 2024. Yeah. It’s not looking great.

As for why we’re demanding to see a sequel it’s largely because we desperately need to see the end of Jade’s story, and, though the direction of Beyond Good & Evil 2 changed a lot. And I mean, a lot. A little warning, I will be spoiling the endings of these games in order to tell you why we need to see more. Beyond Good & Evil the first revealed a massive twist when we learned that our kickass photojournalist who looks great in green, Jade, is actually an entity called Shauni.

Shauni appears to be a shell housing great power that is able to aid Jade at many points throughout the game and even resurrect her friends.

The High Priest of the DomZ, the malevolent alien race who serves as the game’s primary antagonists, tells Jade that she is the source of his power, though exactly how she is linked to the DomZ is never fully explained. Adding insult to injury for fans who want to know what on earth was going to happen, there is a final scene where Jade’s surrogate father figure Pey’j who Jade brought back to life is shown with a DomZ spore growing on his hand.

It is also heavily suggested he knows more about Jade’s ancestry than he lets on, but what that is, we have no idea, and may never know.

To cut things short, over the course of almost two decades, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was set to be a direct sequel, then a prequel, then a showcase of the universe that didn’t focus on the main characters of the original, then a spiritual successor. It’s gone from in production to put on hold more times that we can count, though we should add that tragically the game’s creative director Emile Morel died suddenly in 2023. This terrible passing as well as Michel Ancel’s departure from Ubisoft in 2020 has left the future of Beyond Good & Evil 2 well and truly in the dark.

While fans like myself will never stop hoping that things will come together to give us the answers to Jade’s and Pey’j’s fate or another tale in the enormously memorable game world, our demands have simmered into vague hope.
