9 Video Game Characters Who Would Make An Awesome Suicide Squad
7. El Diablo - Cinder (Killer Instinct)
The second and final arcade fighter on this list, Cinder and El Diablo share a very obvious link through their pyromancy. But as with everyone featured here, there’s more.
There have been a few versions of El Diablo over the years, with Jay Hernandez playing Chato Santana, the third and current comic book iteration. Santana is an ex-LA gang-banger trying to go straight and his flames are often used to represent a sort of pseudo-redemption, depicting him as a phoenix of his own making. However, as this requires an ounce of subtlety - an ounce more than director David Ayer can muster - we never see this on screen.
Cinder’s flames were also initially supposed to offer some kind of redemption, but this ultimately failed. Cinder and El Diablo are two sides of the same coin; driven to extremes by their condition. While El Diablo repents his past life, abhorring crime, violence and death, Cinder seeks vengeance on anything and everything that crosses his path.
El Diablo is the polar opposite to most of the Squad, shying away from the fight and only using his powers when absolutely necessary. Cinder though, he wades in with his flame fists flying.
