9 Video Game Ideas We’re GLAD Got Cancelled

9. Reloading Using A Controller Add-On - GoldenEye 007

Maybe it would've been genius - a whole new way to even think about how to interact with a first-person shooter... or maybe it would've singlehandedly destroyed GoldenEye's reputation from day one, and denied millions of us one of the finest multiplayer shooters of all time.

Either way, back when Rare were assembling GoldenEye in this ragtag, experimental time that was the early 90s in video games, they tried out the idea of reloading using an external peripheral. Namely, the very exciting Rumble Pak, that was adding optional vibration to a host of titles.

Rare had it so reloading in GoldenEye meant you had to physically grab the controller and actively remove - then reinsert - the Pak every time you wanted to reload, as they thought it simulated reloading an actual gun.

While there's no denying a custom-modded, in-person game of GoldenEye today would be a great laugh with everyone having to reload this way, it's safe to say they made the right call taking it out.
