You would think that the prize for the longest-running side quest in a stealth game would be something that makes you way more stealthy.

Ubisoft looked at this common knowledge and quietly muttered under their breath "...no."

In Assassin's Creed 2, you'll often find feathers you can collect for your grief-stricken mother, to help her cope with the death of her husband and sons. And there are a LOT of these feathers, as this sidequest takes you through every city in the game, traversing every building, street and smelly smelly sewer to find them all.

And your grand prize for finishing this sidequest? Why, the legendary Auditore cape, of course!

What does this cape do to help you in your quest for sneaky revenge? Well, it raises your infamy to the highest setting, alerts guards when you so much as walk down the street, and generally makes this stealth game literally impossible to play.

In missions where you cannot raise your suspicion level, you will immediately fail if you are wearing this cape.

So yeah, maybe try inventing therapy for your mother 500 years early instead, that seems like a better way to spend your time.
