9 Video Game Rewards You Shouldn't Accept

2. The Secret Garden Fruit - Shadow Of The Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus doesn't have what one would call "replay value". Oh, it's a masterpiece, but there's very little reason to go back to it once you're finished with it.

However, if you do go back a total of three times, and run the game all the way through each time, on the 4th playthrough you are given access to an area called The Secret Garden.

Instead of a depressed hunchback noble singing about his dead wife (it's okay if you don't get that, that one's just for me) you find a bunch of fruit. And you think to yourself "This is it, the reward for beating this game so many times on one save file! This fruit is gonna make me more powerful than ever and beating the game this time will be a breeze!"

So what does the fruit do? It lowers your maximum health. Permanently. There are 35 fruits in the Secret Garden, and eating all of them puts you at barely any health or stamina left.

Whoops.
