9 Video Games Ruined By Ridiculously Last Minute Changes
1. Rebooting The Story - Destiny
Destiny is one of the biggest new franchises of the decade, but it should have been even bigger. The first new IP from Halo creators Bungie after splitting from Microsoft, the team hoped to create the next big sci-fi shooter.
However, one thing they could never quite nail down was the story. With writers coming in and out and assets being built to accommodate where the narrative was heading, the hope was to deliver another rich FPS, with characters as iconic as Master Chief and Cortana. However, dissatisfied with the end product after two years, management on the game decided to start from scratch and re-jig it entirely after seeing a two-hour supercut of the cinematics.
This was under 12 months before the game came out.
As you can guess, the next year was spent trying to cobble a story together from the assets already created in the time they had left. Put simply, it did not work, and the lack of a satisfying narrative was one of the biggest criticisms the game received at launch.
