9 Video Games Ruined By Ridiculously Last Minute Changes

9. A Solo Release - Resident Evil 3

Exactly how the development process on a game went (or at least, a truthful recount of it) is often difficult to pin down, with the full picture often being a mixture of official statements, anonymous comments and plain-old rumours, which is why Resident Evil 3 comes so far down this list.

That's because the rumours surrounding the launch of this second remake in two years from Capcom suggest that the plan was never to release Resident Evil 3 as a standalone experience. We know it was in development at the same time as Resi 2, and reports suggest the initial plan was to bundle the two together, with the decision to separate them coming late in the day.

This, in a way, set up Resi 3 for a fail. The biggest complaints about the game are that it feels rushed, clocking it at around five hours in length, an issue exacerbated by just how many assets, enemies and locations it reuses from Resident Evil 2. At full price, it's a hard sell.

Had this been a part of the Resident Evil 2 package, though, all of that could have been forgiven.
