9 Video Games Ruined By Ridiculously Last Minute Changes
8. Final Demo Changes - Anthem
Both of Bioware's latest releases have been haunted by terrible mismanagement, if insider reports are to be believed. With a lack of clear vision from key creatives and unresponsive technology making even the easy parts of game development difficult, the team has had to cobble both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem together essentially at the last minute, with the latter suffering the most.
Despite enjoying around half a decade in development, the project really only came together in the final year, with the bulk of quests being made in that time. Even worse, and as tough as it might be to believe considering it's one of the only good things about Anthem, the flight system was something Bioware was uhming and ahing about for years.
The story goes that, after failing to get it working, the team started building the shooter without flight in mind. However, when a demo to EA brass was negatively received, they threw flying back in for the next demo, and finally got a good response.
It's not the system itself that made the game worse, but the knock-on effects it caused. Due to its implementation, the team had to rebuild the geometry of the world to fit the new ability, as well as commit to a feature they still weren't sure they liked.
