9 Video Games Ruined By Ridiculously Last Minute Changes
5. Splitting The Game In Two - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Another one that stems from a reliable insider report (but still shouldn't be taken as gospel), the development on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was apparently dogged by heavy interference from publisher Square Enix.
Consequently, if you ever thought that the latest entry in the series ended just as the story got going and was unfinished, that's because it pretty much was.
Initially, Mankind Divided started life as a hugely ambitious project that would build on the stellar reboot from a few years prior. However, not only was one huge game in development, another sequel was envisioned.
However, along the way, the publisher began worrying about the length between each of these instalments and wanted a quicker turnaround time, essentially making the team ship only half of the first game they had planned, with the second part coming as its own instalment a few years later.
What that resulted in was a sequel with clearly clipped wings, which translated to disappointing sales, and a second part that's almost definitely never materialising.
