9 Video Games That Were Recalled For Completely Bizarre Reasons

7. Limbo Of The Lost

There's a huge difference between taking your cues from something, and outright copying it. The original Borderlands game partly inspired the massive amount of looter-shooter games that came after it, but none of these titles literally reused assets from Borderlands, or copied its menus, guns, environments, and characters.

Limbo of the Lost, on the other hand... well, that's a different story. Shortly after its North American launch in June 2008, the point-and-click adventure came under fire after being hit with plagiarism allegations, with website GamePlasma publishing an article that provided damning evidence to support those claims.

The game that it copied? The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Now, this wasn't simply a case of the game being inspired by Oblivion, or paying homage to it with a few easter eggs. The layout of certain environments was exactly the same in both games, and even some of the textures were identical. Things looked so similar that it was impossible for it to be a coincidence, and it was clear that Limbo of the Lost developer Majestic Studios had taken more than a passive inspiration from Bethesda's seminal RPG.

It was later discovered that the game had copied more than just Oblivion too, with assets and scenes being taken from World of Warcraft and Sea Dogs, and even movies like Spawn and Beetlejuice. Publisher Tri Synergy subsequently announced that it had stopped distributing the game while it investigated the situation, and all units were soon recalled.
