9 Video Games Where You Should AVOID The Story
3. Elden Ring
It's a scary thing when a game becomes consumed by its own hype. Not only were titles like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 disappointing, they felt soul-crushing since they were built up like they were going to be masterpieces.
Luckily, Elden Ring proves that some things can live up to unrealistic expectations. Every aspect of this open-world game has been tailored to perfection, whether its the exquisite fighting mechanics or George RR Martin's world-building story.
Like most fantasy games, you feel compelled, even obligated to delve into your surroundings. Although players usually do this out of curiosity, there is another reason to roam around in Elden Ring - the difficulty curve.
As one would imagine from a game developed by the same guy behind the Souls franchise, Elden Ring is brutally hard. We're talking Battletoads hard. Once you get ripped apart and squished by the same boss over and over again, you'll be urged to venture into the wilderness to pick up some handy supplies, level up a few times, or practice your fighting skills. If you try to pursue the main campaign without boosting your stats to the max, you're going to have a very painful (and brief) experience.
