4. Bioshock Infinite
Was Bioshock Infinite a true entry into the Bioshock series?
The opinions are mixed. The bright and colorful setting of Columbia was certainly a departure from the dark and creepy Rapture. It was received well by some but very poorly by others. Some fans argue that by taking the story to such a different setting, Irrational Games completely tarnished the feeling Bioshock was meant to evoke. Initially meant to be an on-the-rails survival horror game with an amazing twist and a very interesting political and social lesson, the first Bioshock made us all fall in love with the story of Rapture.
However, some say that Columbia doesn't pack the same punch as Rapture and that there really isn't a lesson to be learned. Additionally, the fanbase is split on their opinion of the story of Booker and Elizabeth. The twist involving the two characters is one that's been hotly debated since the game's release. Was Infinite's twist really necessary to complete the overarching story of Bioshock? Was it even an interesting one? There are thousands of people who would rather swim back to Rapture than fly up to Columbia and deal with Comstock again.
