2. Assassin's Creed III
Pleasing the long time fans of Assassin's Creed after Ezio's story came to a conclusion was no easy task for Ubisoft. To suddenly have to replace lovable, relatable, and charismatic Ezio was a challenge. Some say that the soft spoken and introverted Connor was a great departure from bold and brash Ezio. Connor's story is also an even more tragic one than Ezio's but is he as likable? Many would say no.
In addition to the debate on the protagonist, (and completely ignoring the present day narrative of the game), some fans were a little bummed out to find that the new exciting time period they could experience was the American Revolution.
It's a lesson you learn for years as a student in the United States, and although it's kind of a cool experience, many players felt that the time period had already been depicted countless times. To go from the Italian Renaissance to an empty yet blossoming colonial America was not something everyone was happy about.
The introduction to playing as a Templar was called interesting and different and there are many things that ACIII got right. The fanbase is still in debate though.
