2. Tomb Raider / Shadow Warrior

Lara Croft is synonymous with video games and the culture surrounding them. If you were to stop any number of random strangers on the street and asked them to name a character from a game, you'd most probably get Mario or the Tomb Raider herself as an answer.

So whenever she pops up in a game or other media, it is quite a big deal, but there is one appearance in Shadow Warrior that goes mostly unmentioned. Certainly a product of its time, Shadow Warrior was one of the many Build Engine games to follow in the wake of Doom, and had an edge to it that not many shooters have today.

During level 4 after blowing away a wall, the legendary Raider herself can be found, but for some reason, Lara Croft has been tied up. You could put this down to the developers being cheeky, but this small Easter Egg that connects worlds is sealed off with a creepy comment from Lo Wang:

"She's raided her last tomb."
