9 Ways Assassin's Creed Odyssey Is Dividing The Fanbase
9. Losing The Hidden Blade
See that thing in our protagonist's hands? It ain't a hidden blade. Far from it.
Instead, Odyssey is actually ditching the 11 year-standard hidden wristblade, replacing it with a chunk of the Spartan warrior Leonidas' spear.
Chances are the proper hidden blade will make a return later in the story, but for now it's one hell of a shakeup. AC Origins was initially thought to be the game that would show Bayek or a furtive assassin technician figuring out how to even construct one last year, but now we have a stealth... spear(?) instead?
Besides being a major component of what makes an assassin iconic in the franchise, Leonidas' spear is imbued with supernatural energy, sending blast waves across the ground or otherwise aiding in combat by dealing bonus damage.
It's yet another, "Wait... what?!" realisation, and not one that bodes well when both "all new features" are connected.
