9 Ways Bethesda Can Fix Fallout 76
1. If All Else Fails...Give It A "Soft Reboot"
And finally, if Bethesda realises that the game is basically beyond saving in its current state, why not take the nuclear option and hit the reset button?
It's a drastic step, sure, but look how splendidly it worked for Final Fantasy XIV, which launched to initial universal disdain before being relaunched later to critical acclaim.
It would take Bethesda plenty of time and effort to effectively rebuild the game, sure, but given the profits clearly lost due to the negative reception, it really might be worth the extra investment in the long run.
If Bethesda wants Fallout 76 to succeed and survive as a live-service game - and they really do - a major retooling is necessary, and announcing a soft reboot is certainly preferable to just letting the game slowly die out in the wild.
Ultimately, though, it'll probably come down to resources, especially with the company already hard at work on both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI. Don't count on them pulling the plug and starting again, but it's probably the right thing to do at this point.
