9 Ways GTA Online Has Ruined GTA

1. The Game Is No Longer Consumer-Friendly

For the longest time, the Grand Theft Auto series used to be home to games that had the best value for money. Providing players for years with huge titles that they could engross themselves in without getting tired, even when the industry itself started to move towards loot boxes and in-game purchases, Rockstar always seemed to be uninterested in following suit.

That was until GTA Online starting raking in millions of dollars a day.

Although all businesses do what they do with the intent of making as much money as possible, the GTA franchise used to accomplish this by relying on the quality of its product, rather than pushing microtransactions and trying to constantly get players to shell out money on the daily.

The changing mentality has become increasingly noticeable in GTA Online, and has begun to change players' perception of the developers, and their games, entirely. Fans are already worried how this new philosophy will impact the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as GTA VI, and calls into question whether or not Rockstar will be able to maintain their reputation as one of the most consumer-friendly companies in the industry.
