9 Ways GTA Online Has Ruined GTA
8. New Updates Punish People Who Aren't Constantly Playing
In an age where publishers charge players for every conceivable thing you can think of - from weapons to skins to major expansions - Rockstar should be commended for providing fans with free GTA Online content for over four years now.
However, the system isn't perfect, and it should be noted that while the content is technically free, you still need to pay for it with in-game cash. Just about everything Rockstar has released so far requires you to pony up the dollars you've earned from completing missions, heists, or knocking over liquor stores, and while some of these costs are negligible, the major updates can set you back millions.
Of course, if you're not constantly in the game grinding out activities and keeping a steady flow of money coming in, then there's a good chance that you're not going to be able to enjoy a lot of these new updates. Consequently, lapsed players who may be enticed to come back thanks to new DLC will be forced to either grind out the missions they were already tired of, or buy a shark card with real money so they can access it instantly.
Keeping up to date in GTA Online isn't affordable, and the inflating prices only encourage people to resort to microtransactions so they don't miss out on content.
