9 Ways GTA Online Has Ruined GTA

5. Every Mechanic Has To Be Tied Into Making Money

If a new gameplay activity doesn't have the potential to make Rockstar and Take Two money, then it won't ever find its way to GTA Online. As previously mentioned, the DLC packs let players loose to do things like become the CEO of a company or lead a biker gang, but all of these activities require a lot of in-game cash to take part in.

The idea is that players will resort to Shark Cards to keep up with the costs of the updates, but this economy has meant that activities that don't have the potential to promote microtransactions haven't been added.

Huge additions like the opening of the in-game casino have been sought after for years, but because it would complicate the economy and give players another way to make - and lose - money, it hasn't happened. Likewise, when Online was in its infancy, the ability for gamers to play the stock market was promised but never materialised, potentially also because it introduced an uncontrollable way for players to make cash.

All this makes sense from a business perspective, but GTA V is one the most successful video games of all time, and updates that don't actively try to bleed you dry would be appreciated.
