8. A Variety Of Camera Perspectives

The freshly "leaked" GTA V news regarding an FPS mode has us all fired up about immersive gameplay cameras. We've always wanted a first-person Spider-Man game, a notion that seemed improbable before games like Mirror's Edge. If you added some super strength and speed to Faith's rooftop parkour, you'd almost have a Spider-Man game... minus the webs. No video game version of Spider-Man has captured the aerial ballet that is web-swinging quite like Sam Raimi's first two films. We've ironically gotten close with the otherwise mediocre first two Amazing Spider-Man games, but we're still missing out on some cinematic camera opportunities. While we're talking about A.I. driven systems, why not have a smart-camera that dynamically moves closer and further away from you, depending on the position of buildings, the angle of your swing and what will make the best composition... while simultaneously giving you a strategic upper-hand. We could even go a step further and have certain camera motifs that can be switched on and off in the options menu. An example would be the occasional, particularly comic book-y wideshot, or to have your in-game camera switch its source to an appropriately angled security-camera or smart-phone as someone on the street sees you swing by.
