9 Ways The Gaming Industry Is Currently Trolling All Of Us

5. Annual Releases With The Same Old Tired PR Spin

The festive release schedule these days has a worryingly familiar look about it. Certain franchises can be relied upon for a new instalment every year without fail, and though this may be a good thing if you are a big fan of a particular series, is having a dangerous effect on the behaviour of developers. Series' like Assassin's Creed, that in truth should've finished after the interesting diversion of Black Flag, will continue to be churned out year after year until eventually the novelty has worn off for everyone. This would be more acceptable if these games were exemplary year-in, year-out, but they continue to skate by on comfortable 7/10 reviews. No annual release franchise reinvents the wheel any more, and they are so content with their audiences that they regurgitate the same content under a new skin once every 12 months.
