Mortal Kombat has a long legacy of coming up with colourful and creative ways to skewer, disembowel, and otherwise maim your opponents into an early grave, so why should rage-quitting be any different?

Most people know about the franchise favourite Fatalities, Animalities, and Babalities, but Mortal Kombat X introduced a series first in Quitalities. They have persisted in every instalment since and 2023’s Mortal Kombat 1 looks to be no different. The game is set to feature some brutal and humiliating consequences for players who have decided they’ve taken enough punishment and nope out of a match. While MK X would explode your character’s head, and MK 11 mostly impaled your abandoned character with a spike, things seem to be spiced up a touch in the sequel.

While as of the time of writing the game’s stress test has been our only chance to check out the wildly entertaining rage-quitter punishments, it’s looking so good so far.

We’ve so far seen clips including Sub Zero exploding into a bundle of blood and bones and Kenshi breaking his own neck. The player might not be around to properly soak in the shame of these Quitality punishments, but it’s definitely a bit of fun for the dominating player.
