AEW Fight Forever: 5 Things It Does Better Than WWE 2K23 (And 5 It Doesn’t!)

7. DOESN'T: Unlockables

AEW’s shop is…a bit bare bones. Again, Kenny Omega has spoken about adding more to it post-release, but there isn’t much of true worth to spend your in-game money on. The fact referee Aubrey Edwards is one of only two unlockable characters in-store at launch (alongside Cody Rhodes) is pretty laughable.

Shove in some new attires for The Young Bucks and Britt Baker. That's it - that's your lot in terms of the store front characters and alt ring gear. The only other things you've got to spend your money on? Entrance motions, some bits and bobs for Create-A-Wrestler and set pieces for Create-An-Arena.

It isn't enough, and doesn't exactly reward people for playing the game.

WWE 2K23 has a better range of unlockables generally, and they've tucked away neatly in almost every mode. John Cena's Showcase, for example, rewards players for ticking off objectives, and everything feels worthwhile. This is definitely something THQ/Yuke's need to patch ASAP.
