Agents Of Mayhem Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

7. Unbelievably Repetitive Mission Structures & Gameplay

Agents of Mayhem
Deep Silver

Onto the negatives, and the biggest problem with Agents of Mayhem comes from just how little there is to do. Yes, there are basic side missions like chasing down vehicles and taking over landmarks, but the vast majority of your time will be spent shooting waves of randomly-appearing foes, journeying to a spot to hack something or finding multiple points on a map to interact with, before a door opens.

That's it.

Assumedly this is to put the focus on team-building and stat-boosting, but being AoM is entirely single-player focused, there's no impetus to develop team tactics or any sense of surmounting obstacles, because 'difficulty' amounts to a menu option that affects bullet damage.

After just a few hours you'll realise Agents of Mayhem is as wide as ocean, yet as deep as a puddle. The game is "How well you can you shoot waves of enemies?" at its core, with all manner of stat-based bells and whistles, short side missions and character variety layered overtop.
