Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 10 Features Fans Are BEGGING For
9. Durability Meters On Tools
Nintendo has had quite the fling with durability mechanics in recent years, most notably in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where they received mixed criticism. Now New Horizons gets the durability treatment, with each tool snapping into dust when used too much. Animal Crossing isn't exactly new to this mechanic, as the axe has almost always been breakable in previous instalments, but this time it’s not the mechanic itself that’s the problem.
Unlike Breath of the Wild, that tells players when their weapon or shield is badly damaged at every chance it gets, New Horizons remains silent, refusing to give the player any idea which shovel bash or tree chop will be their last. This feature would aid players in planning out their inventory.
On the other hand, sorting through inventory is no easy feat. The player's bag is in woeful need of a sorting tool. While the Tool Ring is a great addition, sorting out your inventory involves putting down and picking up again whatever you want in the next available inventory slot, which is cumbersome to say the least.
