Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 10 Features Fans Are BEGGING For

8. Returning Characters

New Horizons already boasts a deluge of potential villagers, new and old, and players have worked tirelessly to make sure they have the perfect ratio of zany personalities as island residents.

Keen-eyed islanders may notice that some characters from previous Animal Crossing instalments are absent in New Horizons. While the art gallery update has seen Redd return along with his shady business practices, and more recently Rover in the May Day seasonal event, things don’t look too good for characters like Dr Shrunk, an axolotl psychiatrist that taught the player different emotes.

Now that your villagers teach you emotes, Dr Shrunk's future doesn't look bright.

One familiar face that has oddly missed the boat is Kapp’n. The green turtle has appeared in all the previous Animal Crossing games (excluding spin-offs) as a driver for the player. What’s even weirder is Kapp’n is quite partial to the ocean, quite literally described as “a sailor by nature”, going so far as to ferry players to islands in the original Animal Crossing and New Leaf.

Is Kapp’n, along with other fan favourites, hiding in future updates? Fans hope so.
