Seriously, why do the villagers keep putting their houses on top of my cherry orchard?!

For a game so big on aesthetics, garden tending and organisation, it’s very strange that NPC characters can just plop their house down wherever they feel like it. Some kind of design feature which gives us full control would make it easier to create our ideal town.

With us being just an everyday villager instead of Mayor, it doesn’t seem likely that other villagers would ask us where they’re allowed to build, but we could maybe have certain sections ruled off as ‘no build’ zones.

Either that, or risk breaking immersion to let us completely move and place everything in our town exactly where we want it. It is our game, after all, and for some players the neatness and prettiness of their town takes priority above all else.

Those who don’t care could continue to let the townspeople have free reign; this is probably a more realistic experience anyway.

Leaning more heavily into the design aspect of the game and making us town planners more than just town maintainers would be a big hit for lots of players.
