Anthem: 4 Reasons To Be Excited (And 3 To Be Worried)
6. Single Player & Co-Op Multiplayer
BioWare have touted these experiences as being both complementary and exclusive. It’s a bold move, and while some see it as having their cake and eating it too, BioWare have the prowess to make it work.
The idea is that players will be able to team up into groups of four to work their way through the story, or can take on each mission individually. It remains to be seen how the game will balance enemies in such a way that fun can be had regardless of your team (or lack thereof). But if we give Anthem the benefit of the doubt, it could be similar to the Borderlands model.
One of the subtle ways they have earned this benefit of the doubt is the perspective system. During Javelin suit gameplay, perspective will be set to third person. This is BioWare’s usual style, and should showcase the features of your customised Javelin, as well as make it easier to control in flight.
When returning to Fort Tarsis though, perspective will switch to first person to make you feel more immersed. While not groundbreaking, it’s features like this that suggest BioWare has put a lot of thought into their approach.
