The R-301 Carbine is one of the safest pickups in the entire game. It's easy to find, so you'll come across it often. It uses light ammo, so you'll rarely run out of bullets. It has minimal recoil, a high rate of fire, and is great at close-to-medium range, and even usable at long range. For new players, or those who just want to equip a standard assault rifle, this is a strong choice.

The R-301 is a great weapon to use when pushing forward with your squad, peppering the enemy with fire to weaken them and make them panic, before you and your buddies go in for the kill. Players in Apex take a long time to go down, so nine times out of ten, the R-301 will need some assistance with finishing an enemy off.

It's a good all-round weapon then, but it doesn't really excel in any one area.
