Arkham Origins Multiplayer: 5 Reasons To Be Excited

5. Batman And Robin

Batman And Robin Although players have already gotten the chance to step in the boots of both of these heroes, we've never gotten to do it quite like this. The Batman in the story mode is a newly formed vigilante and is no where near the skill level of the Bat we saw in the previous two games, with that said, he is still loads stronger and tougher than any goon or thug the game has. But multiplayer is different, and Batman is no longer up against AI. With people controlling different members of the Joker and Bane gangs, the two gamers playing as heroes might be evenly matched, and that may just be a good thing. I, like many other gamers, enjoy a challenge and Arkham Origins' multiplayer will certainly provide one for even the most stealthy of players. With new mechanics in place, Batman and Robin can no longer preform silent takedowns if they are spotted. Meaning that gang members will constantly be checking their backs for signs of the Caped Crusader. Vantage points (such as gargoyles and light fixtures) can be shot down, leaving Batman and Robin with nowhere to run. Now, I know what you are thinking: All of this makes playing as the gangs sound better than playing as the heroes. While that may seem true, it certainly doesn't have to be. Batman and Robin are not the main point of the round, the base is. Gang members will be so focused on killing each other or taking the command post that they won't have enough time to worry about The Dark Knight and The Boy Wonder. While all of the chaos is happening below, players who are chosen to be our favorite cape-wearing heroes can swoop down and strike fear into evil-doers. It has also been confirmed that the teams are selected at random and players will have no way of choosing who they would like to be. At first I believed Batman and Robin to be selectable and given away at a first-come first-serve style. Luckily, that is not the case. Also, for those wondering, the Robin used in this game is the original Boy Wonder (Dick Grayson). Much to my delight he will fight similar to Nightwing from Arkham City, yet use the some of Tim Drake's weapons, including the bullet shield and shuriken, meaning that the ecrisma sticks will not be available.
