Assassin's Creed Origins: 10 Important Questions It Must Answer
3. How 'Copied & Pasted' Does Gameplay From Other Ubisoft Games Feel?
Almost as though we're just letting it slide because the premise of bombing around Egypt looks to be so much fun, but Origins' gameplay looks like a patchwork quilt of Ubisoft's various other titles. Controlling your eagle is already ripped straight from Far Cry Primal's owl sections and controlling a drone in Ghost Recon Wildlands, and the loot system looks to have the same tiers as The Division. Not to mention, all that potential animal crafting is straight-up Far Cry 3.
To that end, it means every outpost/encampment you're approaching has the same "Release drone, tag enemies, take them out" repetition we've already experienced in various other titles - the only key difference being that now it's all about back-stabbing and leaping from above.
Point being: If 'all Ubisoft have done' after a two year absence is touch up the graphics, expand the world size and port across some very identifiable mechanics, yet again it's nowhere near enough to differentiate this as a 'clean break' for the series to rebuild momentum.
