Assassin's Creed 2020: 8 Improvements Fans Need To See

5. A Less Disjointed Story

Assassins Creed Japan
Ubisoft

Unlike previous Assassin's Creed games, Odyssey attempted to do something new with the way its story was told, namely splitting up Alexios/Kassasndra's main quest into separate, somewhat unconnected, sections.

While the actual storytelling isn't anywhere near bad, the structure it is presented in just feels disjointed, and more like different eras of your hero's path, rather than one, coherent tale.

This is most obviously evidenced by the fact that arguably the most important plot line to the franchise as a whole (the one featuring Atlantis and Pythgoras) feels like completely independent offshoot to the main story, despite being introduced in during the course of the main story, forcing you to seek out its objectives away from the war against the cult, rather than parallel to it.

So, while it was nice to have a different from of pacing to previous releases, it may be best for Ubi to return to a more traditional format.
