Assassin's Creed 4: 10 Things It Needs

1. Move Towards The Series End-Game

I'm definitely getting fatigued by the Assassin's Creed games by now, I must admit, and that's largely because, as mentioned above, I feel like they're just making it up as they go along and aren't actually moving towards a definitive ending. I imagine they're just going to go the Resident Evil route and keep pumping them out until the series is essentially a shambling shadow of its former self. From a business perspective, of course it makes sense for Ubisoft to drag the ending out and simply drip-feed us revelations at the end of each game, but if they're not careful, they will start losing their player base who will have become increasingly fed up with the lack of an end-game. Players like to feel as though they're moving towards something in a series like this, but the majority of the games in the series just feel like they're setting up the next cash cow rather than developing a plot that actually has an arc. Though the end of AC3 did have some interesting implications - despite some shoddy handling of the finer points - it's now a case of whether Ubisoft has the integrity to run with the ball or are keen to just keep passing it around.
