Assassin's Creed 5: 10 Essential Features It Needs To Overhaul

9. More Variety To The Side Missions

Assassin's Creed games have never failed to give you tasks to complete. The problem is, a lot of the time they became nothing but a chore. Completing them all was the realm exclusively inhabited by trophy/achievement hunters. This is a problem that has plagued Assassin's Creed since its inception, there is not enough variety to the side missions you are given to complete as a player. Side quests are supposed to be a fun distraction, and when done right can be just as - if not more - entertaining as the main missions; two examples being Skyrim and Grand Theft Auto V. Both of these games make you feel like you are inhabiting a living, breathing world full of people who exist before you've even spawned in. Assassin's Creed III tried to implement a bit of variety with its Homestead side quests but unfortunately these too felt tacked on and more of an afterthought. The next Assassin's Creed needs to introduce a lot more chaos into its relatively calm world. More random events than the occasional pickpocket would be a great start, perhaps more tasks relating to building up your own reputation in the game world. Improvements to these missions would do wonders for adding longevity to the game and making the world a much more entertaining place.
