Assassin’s Creed: Rogue - 10 Features To Make It Better Than Unity

3. Expand The Mythos In A Meaningful Way

In addition to probably returning to the present day for another ludicrously enjoyable fourth wall break (more on that later), Rogue sees the first time we're really going to see what makes the Templars tick, going behind the curtain to hopefully flesh out exactly which beliefs they too hold true, and how they've been passed down through the ranks. Forever the enemies, the nearest we'd gotten to playing as a Templar was the bait n' switch from part three, although for that switch to work we had to believe we were playing as an assassin the entire time - hence character Haytham Kenway controlling like one. It wasn't only in service of this twist though, what came out of it in the games' narrative was that the Templars were imitating the Assassin's - although this aspect of the overarching story is yet to be fully explored. Let's play as a character that gets far deeper within the ranks of the former enemies, learning their ways and techniques. As Cormac looks to be separate from the two sides it opens up many possibilities in how they'll be portrayed. In addition to the previous entry about an in-depth story, why not show the Assassins and Templars as something of equals in terms of moral grey areas, and let us decide who to follow and fight for?
