Assassin's Creed Unity: 5 Things We Can Expect To See

5. Off With Their Heads!

It's safe to assume that we're going to see a fair few guillotine scenes: in fact it wouldn't be at all surprising if our main character got captured at some point and had to fight his way out of an execution €“ leaping off a guillotine platform into an awaiting cart and making his escape. Not only that, but there's every chance we will also get to see the leading assassin saving people from being executed at some point. In fact, it seems highly likely that the events of 21 January 1793 are going to play a critical role in Ubisoft's new story, as that was when King Louis XVI was executed by guillotine in Revolutionary Square in Paris. It's hard to imagine that we won't probably follow the King's story somewhat, as his Flight to Varennes in 1791 would also be a logical inclusion, in order to set the scene when he attempted to escape France to rouse support in other lands. Louis' execution marked the beginning of a period during the Revolution known as the Reign Of Terror with more than two and a half thousand people executed by guillotine in Paris alone €“ including Marie Antoinette on 16 October 1793, who you would also have to suspect will be involved in the main story as well.
