Whether you're using them for defensive or offensive purposes, shields are just as versatile and fun to use in Valhalla's combat as any other kind of weapon.

There are lots of useful shields scattered throughout England that Eivor can benefit from. However, the most unique of them all is the Gorgon Shield.

Engraved with the frightful visage of Medusa, this relic from Ancient Greece has the chance to add a poison effect to Eivor's weapon after a successful parry, which makes it very handy in any combat situation.

Though players can poison their weapon with the Poison Strike ability, having this shield equipped will allow you to switch this ability with something else. Doing so means you can add some extra flare to Eivor's fighting style without having to replace any abilities you've grown attached to.

A great shield comes at a steep price, though. Unlocking this light shield requires players to find and return all 52 Roman Artefact to Octavian at Ravensthorpe's museum. Not only do you first need to build the museum, each artefact likewise requires some puzzle solving to get to.
