Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Trailer Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down

2. Return To The Seas

While we have seen the open seas become a part of Assassin's Creed with regularity since its inception in the Black Flag title, its usage has been found wanting and has never really been as smooth as its first appearance.

Some wonderful shots in this trailer suggest that ship battles will once again become a major part of the action, with a heavy slice of time spent at sea as you command your vessel in storming land targets. Previously we have taken the fight to opposing forces in ship-to-ship encounters, but if this trailer is to be believed, it appears we will be leading our armies in the fight against foes on dry land.

The shot of the squadron being rained upon with flaming arrows is a picturesque treat, and immediately highlights the struggles of sea-to-land invasion. In one moment you get a glimpse of the intense action in store throughout the story, and we can't wait.

In the trailer the water looks great. The swaying of the ships looks natural and while it may not be directly representative of game play footage, it speaks volumes that an emphasis was put on this animation; hopefully we can take command of multiple ships at once as we storm the beaches of Britain in some epic skirmishes!
