Assassin's Creed: Victory - 10 Things We Can't Wait To See
3. If We Get An Instantly Loveable Main Character
There was nothing wrong with Arno overall. In fact between him and love interest Elise they actually had some fun buddy cop-style dialogue going on; reminiscing about past jobs whilst on other missions, and - when Arno's face wasn't falling off - engaging in just the right amount of flirty banter mixed with acting on their feelings over the course of the game. Outside of that we didn't really feel any particular sense of drive or passion to what he was doing though - with his passage from nobleman into the Assassin Order being barely believable. Instead at this stage in the series Ubisoft are fast-tracking their origin stories into such forced scenarios, you'd believe someone could inherit the abilities of the Assassins through a particularly well-aimed sneeze if they were in the right room. One of the most underrated AC games (if you can count a spin-off DLC as a standalone project) was Freedom Cry, which saw Black Flag's Adewale go after slave-traders in the Caribbean, liberating them and delivering swift machete-first justice to those responsible. Obviously not everything has to evolve this way - and giving us an character who's been with the Order for a long time would be a breath of fresh air too - but having some inbuilt cause to address or instant want on the player's side to get stuck into the story would be most welcome.
